Michael Morgan, Fire Chief
Union Fire Department
Who do you want to come to your rescue when your life is on the line? Who risks his life everyday for individuals like you and me? Michael Morgan and the Union Fire Department are just those individuals.
Michael lives in Union and is the Fire Chief at the Union Fire Department (UFD). He has held this job for 9 years. Being a Fire Chief is a complicated job because
he has to multi-task all the time. He even had to go to a special school to make sure he knew how to do his job perfectly right. UFD began in 1969. Michael’s job is to take fire and emergency calls, invest budgets, and work on political projects. But, Michael’s favorite part about his job is working with others. The Union Fire Department has around 40 volunteers, but anyone can volunteer to help.
Michael is married to his wife, Heather Morgan, and they have 2 boys and 2 girls. Michael’s favorite thing to do in his community is going fishing and watching his kids’ sports games. This fall the UFD will be getting their first ladder truck…what an exciting experience! Doesn’t that sound like a lot of fun?
Michael says that over the 9 years he’s been a Fire Chief, the craziest thing that has ever happened to him is when they had to save a goose out of a hole with a tarp rope. He had to get the goose close to the rope by using bread crumbs. You just never now what you’ll get into being a Fire Chief. It definitely is an interesting job, but very rewarding!
